Many operations today can be carried out on an outpatient basis – at the Herzog Carl Theodor Eye Hospital too. As an outpatient you will come to the hospital in the morning and will be able go home during the afternoon, sleeping in your own bed again that evening – something which our patients find very appealing and which makes their decision regarding the type of treatment easier. As an eye hospital with the most modern operating techniques and well-tolerated anaesthetic procedures we are able to provide surgery on an outpatient basis to many of our patients. The advantages for the patient are self-evident: convalescence in familiar surroundings, the peace and quiet of home and the fact, that the patient is contactable for neighbours and relatives.
PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING WITH REGARD TO THE OPERATION DAY:
Please do not have anything to eat on the morning of the operation and please arrive punctually for your agreed appointment.
Remember to bring your health insurance card, your referral letter and your glasses with you. We will also require a list of your medication and the reports from your ophthalmologist. Please ensure that you have somebody collect you after the operation. You will not be allowed to drive yourself home.
