As a rule you will be referred by your ophthalmologist to an attending physician at the Herzog Carl Theodor Eye Hospital. This physician is then also your surgeon. Following a thorough examination your physician will then discuss the next course of treatment with you, giving you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have and will also suggest a date for the operation. Whether the treatment is to be performed on an outpatient or on an inpatient basis depends on the type of therapy in question, on your individual condition and on your preferences and requests. In either case you will receive comprehensive care from our nursing staff before and after surgery and your progress will be carefully monitored. The operating surgeon will explain the precise details of the operation to you, informing you of all the measures involved.
Below you will find details regarding your stay in our hospital on either an inpatient or outpatient basis and of how you can best contribute to the success of your therapy and your stay.
